Existing Services

We regard them as potential partners rather than competitors. We aim to provide a secure community to students on campus.

Our campus has many facilities which is leveraged by students and they provide security to all. But due to limited resources, time frame of operation and limited area coverage, there is still a need for a platform which can be leveraged for partnering with existing programs like Safe Walk to provide safety for students in campus.

"Twenty-four armed officers constitute the police staff. They are empowered to make an arrest on Carnegie Mellon property or any areas adjacent to the university. Additionally, there are 41 security officers, and five radio dispatchers on the staff. Foot patrols by security officers support the police officers' surveillance of the campus academic buildings and residence halls."

"The Carnegie Mellon shuttle service is a fixed-route, fixed-stop transporation option which is available to all CMU students, faculty, and staff. Shuttle buses are assigned to different geographical areas which surround Carnegie Mellon. Presently, there are shuttle services to the Oakland and Shadyside areas. "

"Safewalk enhances the safety of Carnegie Mellon students, faculty, and staff by providing escorts to those walking on or near campus during late night hours. Our mission is to minimize exposure of the Carnegie Mellon community to crime risks, to deter criminals, and to promote an awareness of personal safety amongst the community."
