As part of our Market study, in March 2015, a survey was sent out to CMU students. 74 students replied. We've noticed that walking with friends and other students are a preferred commuting method, when there is no shuttle or escort service.

2014 Safety Report

According to 2014 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, there were 3 motor vehicle thefts, 38 sex offenses, 9 aggregate assaults, and 3 robberies from 2011 to 20131. Universities are trying to address security concerns by offering security and shuttle services. However, there is still a gap existing as far as security is concerned.This app will be beneficial in addressing the needs of the category of students whose specific needs are not met. As safety is a top priority of all the students on campus, our initiative is to develop an application as a platform for students to walk home together and safely. In future, we can provide this service to other schools.
